OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 25, 2024) — VI Marketing and Branding hosted its 22nd annual Carne Diem Chili Cook-Off on Oct. 25 to benefit the United Way of Central Oklahoma. The event, held on Park Avenue in downtown Oklahoma City, raised $10,480, all of which was donated to the United Way of Central Oklahoma.
Carne Diem, an annual tradition since 2002, brings hundreds of Oklahomans to the heart of the city each year. Alongside amateur and professional chili tastings, the block party features live music, beer, a chili pepper eating contest and themed merchandise for purchase.
This year, more than 60 varieties of chili were served and judged. In the professional category, participating restaurants Tellers, The Manhattan OKC, Naija Wife Kitchen, The Prairie Gypsies, Tower Grille, Tamale King and OKC Tap House all showcasing their unique OKC flavor. Beer was provided by The Big Friendly, a local beer bus, and music was provided by The Flea and Friends.
A panel was assembled to judge amateur and professional chilis. Judges awarded third place to The Manhattan OKC and second place to Tower Grille. The coveted Carne Cup was awarded to OKC Tap House, making this their second win in a row!
“Carne Diem raises crucial funds for United Way. It’s a lot of work, but well worth it,” said Tim Berney, CEO of VI Marketing and Branding. “We raised more than $10,000 this year for the United Way of Central Oklahoma and can’t wait to do it all over again in 2025.”
